Preparing for Exam for Pet with Diarrhea or Urination Problems

IF THE PET IS HAVING DIARRHEA:
Bring a stool sample if possible.

IF THE PET IS STRAINING TO URINATE, HAS BLOOD IN THE URINE, OR IS URINATING FREQUENTLY:
This pet is painful and should come in as soon as possible.

Don't let the pet urinate for 4 hours before coming in for an appointment. If it is a cat, you may want to place he cat in a carrier (with a towel) or keep the cat in a bathroom without access to a litter box.

If the pet arrives with an empty bladder, the owner may need to leave the pet here until enough urine accumulates in the bladder to get a sample. We can give pain and relaxing medication to help stop the straining.
