Wellness Exams

We believe preventative care improves the quality and quantity of life for your pet. Annual wellness exams and bi-annual exams for older pets is strongly recommended.

Recent advances in vaccine technology have allowed for some vaccines to last up to three years. This is great news for pets and owners alike. Even though pets do not always need yearly vaccines, it is still very important to have frequent examinations performed on your pets.

Wellness exams provide our veterinarians with the opportunity to prevent problems before they become too advanced and more difficult to control. Because pets age more rapidly than humans, major changes in health also occur more rapidly.

Sometimes disease processes may even be detected and treatment started before any physical symptoms arise! The goals of frequent wellness exams are to prevent or minimize disease or injury. San Bruno Pet Hospital recommends routine health screens for your dog and cat. The health and safety of your pet is our foremost concern.

Because our pets cannot describe symptoms to let us know what might be wrong, we suggest blood and urine tests to give us the answers we need. Remember, 1 of our years is equal to 5-7 of our pets’ years, depending on the breed and size of your pet.

At the wellness examination, you will also have the opportunity to individually discuss issues that are of greatest concern to you. Our comprehensive physical exam includes checking the ears, eyes, nose, teeth, heart, lungs, bones, joints, skin and abdomen. We can also discuss any behavioral changes/problems and assist you in your pet’s diet and nutrition. Please feel free to contact our office to schedule an appointment or to discuss further the importance of wellness examinations.

Together, we can work to provide your pet with the quality of life that they deserve.
